A trio of Fort Wayne-area baseball players were selected Wednesday during the Major League Baseball entry draft.

Northrop and Ball State product Colin Brockhouse was picked by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 24th round, and another former Northrop player, Garrett Schoenle, was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 30th round.

This is the second year Brockhouse has been drafted after he was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 37th round last year. He recently completed his juniors season with a 3-2 record in 40.2 innings pitched over 10 appearances with 10 strikeouts and a 3.98 earned run average.

Schoenle, the Gatorade Indiana Baseball Player of the Year, was 5-1 this season with a 0.67 ERA in 52.1 innings. He also had 79 strikeouts. He also hit .500 with five home runs and 32 RBI. The lefthander has been recruited to pitch at the University of Cincinnati.

Former Adams Central and Huntington University right fielder Dalton Combs was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 35th round. He hit .386 this season with three home runs and 19 RBI in 37 games.
